INFO:

A large metal woodwind instrument with a curved bell and looped neck. Known for its characteristic "brassy" sound.

Background

 First creation documented around the middle of the 1800s alongside the other saxophones, around the same time that Ophicleide disappeared. Not a direct descendant of the Ophicleide but invented by the same creator.
Has enjoyed a rise in popularity and is a notable member in most large classical ensembles and a prominent and defining member in jazz bands today.
They are relatively the same age as Tuba and Euphonium. Actual age unknown.
