A large wooden instrument with a long black-and-white keyboard and intricate hammers and strings inside. Known for its versatility and expansive repetoire of music.

Background

First creation documented around the early 1700s. Formerly known as the fortepiano and pianoforte, and was developed similarly to the pipe organ, harpsichord, and clavichord. Flourished in Baroque and Classical periods, and has been used in all kinds of music since.
One of the most recognizable and popular instruments, if not the most. Boasts a striking black-and-white color scheme and is prized for ease of learning and playing.
They are not particularly close with anyone, preferring to be alone. They work very well with others when needed, however. Similar in age to the double reeds. Actual age unknown.
